2002 CHRISTIE'S 20th Century Decorative 11/18/02 PARIS...An eclectic selection particularly from the first half of the 20th century is highlighted by a set of Paul Dupr?-Lafon furniture of extraordinary quality such as a set of nest tables; an ashtray on stand; a pair of table lamps; and a coffee table, all constructed with the decorator's signature materials of vellum, rosewood, iron and brass. Also featured are a set of four bronze period casts by Fran?ois Pompon, including 'Pintade' and 'Pelican', and a series of 1940s furniture by Andr? Arbus, Gilbert Poillerat, Jean Pascaud and Jacques Adnet. Finally, the second half of the century is represented by two exceptional lots—a pair of bronze, lacquer and suede chauffeuses by Jacques Quinet; and a rare poetic sculpture by Fran?ois-Xavier Lalanne, commissioned by the famous French architect Emile Aillaud and his wife Charlotte.
