Sale overview
Christie’s highly anticipated end of season Important Watches Auction in New York brings 150 lots, all highly sought-after for their historical notoriety, fresh-to-market condition, and extreme rarity. Collections included are timepieces from important private collections as well as a curation of watches formerly belonging to notable American Icons, including writer Ernest Hemingway and astronaut Wally M. Shirra. Important timepieces are of both vintage and modern collectability and include an impressive array of Patek Philippe wristwatches, including an exceptionally rare reference 3450, retailed by Tiffany & Co., as well as the highly-complicated and exceptional reference 5016P. An array of other highlights includes a sought-after early stainless steel Rolex chronograph wristwatch, reference 3330, and a very attractive and unique skeletonized Breguet desk clock,
manufactured at the height of the Art Deco period.
