CHRISTIES LE GOÛT FRANÇAIS
SALE 4040
Paris
6 November 2015
This sale presents a selection of fine ceramics, among which is this very rare late 18th-century Niderviller biscuit porcelain bouquet, a ‘bleu celeste’-ground Vincennes porcelain ‘soucoupe a pied’ – from the ‘bleu celeste’ service for King Louis XV – and a 1534 Urbino signed and dated dish, by Francesco Xanto Avelli, illustrating a passage from Ovid’s Metamorphoses.
The silver section offers around 60 lots and three private collections with French and Belgian pieces from the 18th century, among which the top lot is a Belgian silver coffee pot attributed to Joseph de Rudder, 1789 with an Indian spout. Lastly, a highlight of the furniture and works of art section will be the sale of a Swedish rococo ormolu mirror by Christian Precht, circa 1735.
