Sotheby’s Impressionist, Modern & Surrealist Art Evening Sale is led by a magnificent trio of Neo-Impressionist paintings by Camille Pissarro and Paul Signac. Restituted to the heirs of notable patron and art collector Gaston Lévy these masterpieces demonstrate a radical new direction in the manipulation of light and colour. Further highlights of the sale include two remarkable still-life paintings by Fernand Léger, an excellent gouache by Der Blaue Reiter artist Franz Marc and a dynamic work Le cycliste by Jean Metzinger. These works are joined by sculptures by Julio González and Alberto Giacometti.
